Discover the Art Inspired by Life

PATRICIA WALKER , I was born and raised in south western Ontario, the middle child of 3. I always love to draw and color as a child and at age 7, I was given as a gift the John Nagy learn to draw kit. It was one of the best gifts ever, and started my very slow moving art journey. In high school I was not a great student except in art, there I could get lost in creating, at this time it was the late 60’s and the expectation was for women to become stay at home moms, nurses, teachers or secretaries. I would have loved to have been able to take shop and learn to weld, or carpentry, or drafting, but no, they tried to turn me into a secretary. Those secretary shoes just did not fit me at all. As luck would have it in grade 10, our school got an art teacher, who changed my life. For the first time I can remember I was told I was good at something. I did graduate with a diploma in art and science. I then did one year of basic design at Fanshawe College, but I was restless and wanted to get away from home, i was also under the influence of a man who i later married and never continued on in the field of art.

I then became and RN and worked in the Adult Trauma Center for 13 years, followed by 15 years in the Pediatric Trauma Center, followed by a few years in recovery and day surgery, then onto the “best job ever, Retirement”. After years of high stress work and working in a windowless environment, my need to de-stress and be in nature was a force that could not be denied. This is reflected in my paintings, I have always loved to travel and camping is a favorite summer activity with some paints or minimum of a camera in tow.

Since my retirement I try to paint or do something creative on a daily basis. Sometimes my creative endeavors are renovating our homes, currently we are in renovation discussions to renovate the garage to a more usable creative space. Sometimes it’s building painting frames, but whatever it is my mind is always trying to figure out how to make things work to make life easier. I hope that my art work will bring a little bit of the peace found in a great forest, or the quietness you feel by a river. or the spectacular awe at something beautiful, like the reflections on the water, beautiful cloud banks, or the sweetness of small innocent children at play.

If you are interested in purchasing a painting or are interested in a commission piece, please contact me through email at pawalker368artist@gmail.com , my prices do not include shipping and I only complete transactions via cash or etransfer, so please don’t ask about bit coin as the answer is NO.
